Description of GDS Taxi Software

On the Taxi the application will be used using a device which provides the following capabilities.

1- A standard A grade web browser ( Firefox, Chrome , Internet explorer  etc)

2- GPS Receiver.

3- Standard IP based communications ( 3G, EDGE , GPRS, WiMax etc )

4- Input Device ( standard Keyboard / Touch screen keyboard ). This input device is what we call the MDT (Mobile Device Terminal) can be customizable.

-----------------------------------------------------

The driver will initially have to login by providing their username and password, once the driver has logged in the system will open up the driver dashboard. The dashboard will basically show the drivers current location, other cabs in the area and general message from the company. The dashboard will be updated with real time information from the GPS receiver and the server.

Any new job dispatched from the headquarter will pop-up on the screen and the driver will have the option to accept or reject the job. If the job is accepted the dashboard will be updated and show the source address, destination address, details of the passengers and button prompting the driver if the pickup is done. The address will also be highlighted on the real time map. Once the driver drops the passengers he will indicate that the job has been completed.

The GPS system will also calculate the fare for a journey based on the rules defined at the headquarter, this will include a per mile charge, waiting charge and other configurations as required by the customer.
For credit card payment the system will open a page where the driver would type in the credit card information of the passenger, indicate the tariff and tip and submit. An electronic verification will be received which can be e-mailed to the passenger.

Please note that connectivity is a must for the system to function properly, however the system will support an offline*** mode where all changes will be kept locally until connection is re-established (the offline mode will support a maximum of 30 minutes of operation) . The offline mode will be based Google Gears technology and will support the following functions:

  • Ongoing Metering.
  • Start / Stop requests.

The following cannot be supported offline:

  • New requests from the HQ.
  • Credit Card Payment ( In offline mode verification is not possible, we can enable this function however there are financial  consequences which the company must be ready to bear)

***The Definition of offline is no connectivity on GPRS/EDGE/WiFi .

Description of GDS Headquarter Software

The headquarter will have basic infrastructure (Internet, datacenter, backup power etc) and call agents who will answer incoming calls. When a call comes in the agent will look-up the customer information based on some unique parameter (phone number, address etc). The agent will look up the address using a map tied in with the Google API’s for address lookup. If the address is not found a manual entry would be made along with a general area specification.

Once the order form is complete the dispatch engine would kick in and find the closest driver based on distance, availability and free time. If a suitable match is not found the engine will run through different options (as defined during configuration) and show the alert to the agent for manual dispatch.

In addition to this the application will also have a admin console and user management module to create managers, agents and drivers. The system will also have integration with VISA and Master Card systems to handle credit card transactions. An additional reporting module will also be present to extract reports from the system.
